Security & privacy

Clear about what we hold, and what we don't.

Financial software earns trust slowly. Here is what CeyFi is, what it isn't, what's in place today and what we'll publish before opening to the public.

Fig. 1A lock opens for the right hand. Your records should too.

01Plainly

Four things CeyFi doesn't do.

  • CeyFi doesn't hold money.

There are no CeyFi accounts with balances in them. Your money stays with your bank or provider.

  • CeyFi doesn't move money.

It records transfers and payments that happen elsewhere. It doesn't send, receive or convert funds.

  • CeyFi doesn't need your banking password.

You'll never be asked for an internet banking login, PIN or OTP. Anyone who does is not CeyFi.

  • CeyFi doesn't give investment advice.

Figures on the site and in the product are for understanding your records, not recommendations.

02Today

What's in place, and what's promised.

Each line says whether it's already true or still to come. We'd rather under-claim.

  • Your records are yours

CeyFi is being built not to sell personal data or use your financial details for advertising.

    Commitment

  • Personal records stay on your device

CeyFi Personal keeps your records in your own browser. They aren't sent to CeyFi, and we can't see them.

    In place

  • Encrypted in transit

The website and app are served over HTTPS.

    In place

  • Sharing is opt-in

Family members and colleagues will see only what you choose to share with them.

    Planned

  • Export and deletion

In CeyFi Personal, download a backup or a CSV of your records, or delete them all, from Settings.

03Transparency

Every number has a source.

A record says how it got into CeyFi and how far it has been checked. Nothing is presented as verified unless someone with the standing to verify it has.

  • Entered by you

    In the demo

You typed it in. Useful, and only as accurate as the note it came from.

  • Imported from a statement

    Planned

Read from a bank or card statement you uploaded.

  • Backed by a document

    Planned

A payslip, receipt or remittance advice is attached to the record.

  • Confirmed by the other party

    Planned

The client, family member or colleague involved agreed it happened.

  • Verified by a provider

    Planned

Confirmed by a licensed bank or payment provider. Requires partners CeyFi doesn't have yet.

A record in CeyFi describes money. It isn't a bank balance, and CeyFi never holds the funds it describes.

04Before launch

What we'll publish.

  1. 01A full privacy policy, reviewed by legal counsel
  2. 02Where data is stored and how long it's kept
  3. 03How data is encrypted at rest and who can access it
  4. 04How to report a vulnerability, and how we respond
